The quartermaster, (regimental officer), would be responsible for administering barracks, laying out the camp, and looking after supplies. 
Tents were a quick and simple way to provide shelter for temporary military bases. 
 
This is a large version of 3 available tents. It comes complete with supply boxes on one side of the tent.
