 'Steam shovels played a major role in public works during the 19th and early 20th century. 
In particular being key to the construction of many railroads, quarry's and coal mines across the world. 
This model would weigh in excess of 20Tons, and in a single lift could move nearly a Ton of material. Some estimates suggest they were able to carry out the same days work equivalent too the work of 100 men. A worthy investment for quarry owners".
