"The 4.5-inch howitzer was used by British and Commonwealth forces in most theatre's. In the Second World War it equipped some units of the BEF and British, Australian, New Zealand and South African batteries in East Africa and the Middle and Far East. With a range of 6km it could fire a 16kg shell 4 times per minute. The Portability of these smaller 4.5's weighing only 1.4ton. Allowed many to be pulled by horse and manoeuvred by man-power."
